But for me the best part was spending four hours with the legendary Prof. Sir. Richard Peto in a quiet corner of the conference.
We discussed tobacco epidemiology, mortality trends, cancer causation, old studies, and new questions. Hearing his perspectives firsthand was truly special.
What struck me most was his continued curiosity, passion and humility after seven decades of work that have transformed public health and saved millions of lives.

- Establishing the benefits of quitting, smoking
- Introducing the log-rank test
- Pioneering meta-analyses of RCTs
