M. Tezer Kutluk: 2025 Update of World Cancer Declaration with UICC Board

M. Tezer Kutluk, Professor of Pediatrics and Pediatric Oncologists, Chair of the Scientific Board at Medicana Health Group, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Dear friends,

Between 18–20 November 2025 in Melbourne, Australia, we participated in the World Cancer Leaders’ Summit 2025, which brought together around 400 representatives from leading institutions and cancer organizations across many countries. I was present together with the current board members and past presidents of UICC—the Union for International Cancer Control, where I previously served as President.

The most important agenda item of the meeting was the 2025 update of the World Cancer Declaration, summarised as follows:

  • Five global targets: including a 25% reduction in cancer mortality and 60% of cancers diagnosed at an early stage.
  • Five domains for national action: planning, data, research, education, and people-centred care.
  • Five core principles: ensuring that delivery is equitable, collaborative, evidence-based, sustainable, and accountable.

The new 5×5×5 framework for 2035 aims to guide progress through an approach grounded in equity, evidence, and collaboration, and to inspire global leaders to take stronger action against cancer worldwide.

With the hope and belief that the World Cancer Declaration will contribute meaningfully to the global fight against cancer, respectfully yours.

Read the declaration at UICC Website.”
