Launching the Sixth “Get Checked!” Campaign With a Focus on Primary Care – Lung Cancer Europe

Lung Cancer Europe shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Get Checked! 2026 launches today.

Lung cancer. Two sides to every diagnosis.

Now in its sixth year, Lung Cancer Europe’s awareness campaign is focusing on primary care, often the first place someone goes when something doesn’t feel right.

In creating this year’s campaign, we listened to both sides: people living with lung cancer, and the healthcare professionals who work to diagnose it. What we heard shows how nuanced and complicated the route to a diagnosis can be, for the person with symptoms and for the teams supporting them.

Throughout Lung Cancer Awareness Month, we’ll be sharing their stories every day.

We’re hugely grateful to everyone who made this possible:

  • Lung Cancer Nursing UK (LCNUK), for their support and for connecting us with lung cancer nurses who shared their experience so openly (and very special thanks to Venencia Cleopatra Rayson (Nyamimba)
  • The lung cancer diagnostics team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, for welcoming us in and showing us the work that happens at every step of the pathway
  • The European Society of Thoracic Surgeons Quality of Life Working Group, for their expertise on early diagnosis, surgery and life afterwards
  • Every healthcare professional, person living with lung cancer, and every family member, who trusted us with their story
  • Our member organisations across Europe, who are sharing Get Checked! in their own languages this month
