“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Zsofia Stadler as the next Chief of the Clinical Genetics Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, succeeding Kenneth Offit.
Since becoming Clinical Director of the service in 2017, Dr. Stadler has led a major expansion of genetics-driven cancer care, clinical operations, and translational research.
She has helped build one of the nation’s largest and most deeply annotated Lynch syndrome cohorts, advanced evidence supporting germline evaluation for patients with microsatellite instability-high tumors, demonstrated the therapeutic actionability of genomic alterations, and co-led MSK’s tumor-normal MSK-IMPACT protocol, through which more than 60,000 patients have consented to germline analysis.
Her work has also expanded access to testing through Epic-integrated risk assessment and genomic decision-support tools, while advancing research in circulating tumor DNA, early detection, immunoprevention, and cancer interception for people at inherited risk.
In July 2026, she became Editor-in-Chief of JCO Precision Oncology further expanding her role in shaping the conversation around genomic medicine and precision cancer care.
Dr. Stadler succeeds Dr. Offit, an internationally recognized pioneer in cancer genetics whose leadership has established MSK as a global reference center for inherited cancer risk assessment, germline genomics, and precision prevention.
As Chief of the Clinical Genetics Service and Director of the Robert and Kate Niehaus Center for Inherited Cancer Genomics, Dr. Offit has helped define the modern clinical integration of germline findings with tumor sequencing, treatment selection, and cancer prevention.
His work has contributed to the discovery and characterization of inherited susceptibility across multiple cancers, including BRCA-associated malignancies, hematologic cancers, pancreatic cancer, and Lynch syndrome, while his vision helped create the institutional foundation on which MSK-IMPACT and large-scale paired tumor-normal sequencing have transformed clinical cancer genomics.
Dr. Stadler’s appointment reflects both continuity with this exceptional legacy and a clear commitment to the next era of equitable, prevention-focused, genomics-enabled care for patients and families.”
