Lucile Vanhersecke: Predicting NSCLC Immunotherapy Response With AI

Lucile Vanhersecke, Praticienne spécialiste des CLCC at Institut Bergonié, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Honored to represent both Institut Bergonié and Explicyte at the very first ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology AI and Digital Oncology Congress in Berlin, chaired by Mireia Crispin, Rudolf Fehrmann and Jakob Nikolas Kather.

I am very happy to present the results of my internship from the Master 2 AI for One Health program at Université Grenoble Alpes. By combining machine learning techniques with a robust human-in-the-loop approach, we identified the best predictive criteria for tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) immunotherapy.

This work highlights the power of interdisciplinary collaboration: throughout this project, I had the opportunity to be hands-on and fully involved at every step – from applying my expertise in pathology, to engaging directly with real-life machine learning workflows, and ultimately reviewing and translating these findings into actionable criteria for pathologists’ daily practice.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this work, bridging digital and clinical expertise to improve immunotherapy response prediction for patients.”
