Laura Ortiz-Ravick: Puerto Rico Senate Honors Blood Cancer United for Its Patient Advocacy Efforts

Laura Ortiz-Ravick, Director, National Outreach and Health Equity Partnerships at Blood Cancer United, shared on LinkedIn:

“Proud to celebrate an important milestone for Blood Cancer United and the patients and families we serve in Puerto Rico.

Last week, Blood Cancer United was honored by the Puerto Rico Senate (Senado de Puerto Rico), alongside other patient advocacy organizations, through a special motion recognizing our commitment to improving the lives of blood cancer patients and families and expanding access to critical support and resources throughout the island.

The recognition was presented by the President of the Senate Health Commission, Juan Oscar Morales Rodríguez, during Alianza por los Pacientes, a forum held at the Puerto Rico Capitol that brought together patients, healthcare professionals, patient advocacy organizations, and community leaders.

We have been working diligently to expand our reach and impact across Puerto Rico and this formal recognition is a powerful affirmation that Blood Cancer United has an critical role to play in improving the lives of blood cancer patients and families across the island.

A very special thank you to BeHealth for organizing this important event and inviting Blood Cancer United to be part of it. More importantly, thank you for being such an incredible partner in this journey to reach and serve more patients across Puerto Rico.

I also want to extend a special thank you to my colleague and fellow boricua Alberto Germosen Robles for his partnership and unwavering commitment to our outreach efforts in Puerto Rico.

Thank you to the Puerto Rico Senate for this recognition and to all of our colleagues and community partners whose dedication makes this work possible.”
