Laura Esserman: Honored to Receive AIM-HI Beacon Award and Celebrate Cancer Research Leaders

Laura Esserman, Principal Investigator at The WISDOM Study, shared on LinkedIn:

“I’m so honored to join previous AIM-HI Beacon Award Winners Margaret Foti, Monica Bertagnolli, and Anna Barker.

Thanks especially to Anna Barker for all she’s done to advance cancer care, and all of the amazing people she has supported including me. I-SPY would never have been possible without her support.

The National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) is really leading inspiring work, and my congratulations especially to Dr. Michele Carbone for winning the Szent-Györgyi award. He combines scientific discovery, community engagement, advocacy, and transformative public health action.

What a great scientist and a wonderful person, whose discovery of the role of mutations in BAP1 in the cause of mesothelioma and the interaction with environmental exposures saved lives and saved communities.

So fun also to celebrate with my dear friend Dr. Olufunmilayo (Funmi) Olopade!

And to see former BCC intern Eva Martin, who is starting a new women’s health company!”
