LaShae D. Rolle: Thrilled To Be Joining NCI T32 Cancer Prevention And Health Equity Training Program

LaShae D. Rolle, AYA Cancer Survivor and Advocate, Pre Doctoral Fellow at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I am thrilled to share that I will be joining the NCI T32 Cancer Prevention and Control and Cancer Health Equity Training Program at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center, under the mentorship of Dr. Oxana Palesh, who co-directs the program with Dr. Bernard Fuemmeler. I am deeply honored to have been selected.

This next chapter will move my work into the areas of sleep and stress in oncology, completing the triad of lifestyle medicine content areas I hope to build my career on: exercise, sleep, and stress. Building fluency across all three is the research identity I want to carry forward, and VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center is the right place to do it.

None of this would be possible without Dr. Tracy Crane, my primary doctoral mentor and committee chair. She was the first person to open my eyes to lifestyle medicine in oncology. She introduced me to so many of the people who have shaped my path and has given me the tools to grow as an early-career cancer researcher. I am endlessly grateful.

To my committee (Dr. Sara St. George, Dr. Matthew Schlumbrecht, and Dr. Sophia George), thank you for the continued guidance and belief. You have shaped how I think and how I show up in this field.

I cannot wait to learn, to meet new collaborators, and to keep building work that matters for cancer patients and survivors. Onward to Richmond, VA!”
