“After eight weeks, I have completed my Clinical Unit Visit at the Champalimaud Clinical Center in Lisbon.
This has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my professional journey.
Seeing how different specialties work together in breast cancer care gave me a deeper understanding of truly multidisciplinary care and the importance of collaboration throughout the patient journey.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Prof. Maria João Cardoso and the entire Champalimaud Breast Unit for their mentorship, openness and hospitality. I am also grateful to my home mentor Artur Avetisyan, and the National Center of Oncology of Armenia for supporting my professional development.
My special gratitude goes to the International Cancer Foundation (ICF), and particularly to Peters Solange and Daria H., for their support and for making this exceptional opportunity possible. I am equally grateful to ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology, especially Teresa Amaral, for supporting this Clinical Unit Visit and investing in the professional development of young oncologists.
Beyond the clinical and academic knowledge, this fellowship gave me something equally valuable: new professional connections, friendships, and the opportunity to meet inspiring people from different backgrounds. These relationships and memories are something I will carry with me long after the fellowship has ended.
I return to Armenia with new knowledge, practical experience, renewed motivation, and a clearer vision of how I can contribute to the development of breast cancer care at my home institution.”
