Khalid El Bairi: The Greatest Reward for any Mentor is Seeing their Mentees Grow

Khalid El Bairi, International Executive Council at NCODA, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“The greatest reward for any mentor is seeing their mentees grow and make progress!

This Sunday, I had the pleasure of meeting with my mentees, and it was truly inspiring to witness their development, motivation, and the growing sense of community within our group. They earned scholarships, delivered presentations at international conferences, and – most importantly – published peer-reviewed articles!.

This time, our undergraduate mentees learned how to submit scientific manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals through a simulation of a real submission process by Adam Hrimech and Radia El Badouri, both undergraduate medical students at the UM6P_SHCC – Faculty of Medical Sciences and UM6P Hospitals of UM6P – University Mohammed VI Polytechnic.

They also learned about the importance of transparently reporting conflicts of interest in science and were introduced to the Open Payments database to understand how some countries are making meaningful progress in promoting transparency.

It is essential for institutions and countries to develop mentorship programs for their students to help build a future generation of passionate and engaged researchers. What is truly beautiful is bringing together nursing, medical, and pharmacy students to collaborate in these programs – helping them understand that they form one united team.”
