Kenji López-Cuevas: Cary Adams Spotlight Early Cancer Ecosystems in Mexico at Coloquio Mission Early 2025

Kenji López-Cuevas, Founding President of Cancer Warriors of Mexico, Treasurer at Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), shared a post on LinkedIn:

“In the framework of the Coloquio Mission Early 2025, I had the honor of introducing the participation of Dr Cary Adams, CEO of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), in my capacity as Treasurer of this international organization and as a member of the Oversight Committee of All Can México All Can México.

Joining us virtually from Geneva, Dr. Adams shared an insightful message on the importance of strengthening early cancer care, highlighting the concept of Lavender Zones – an evidence-based framework to identify and promote contexts where Early Detection, diagnosis and treatment translate into better outcomes for patients.

He also outlined key recommendations for emerging early cancer ecosystems such as Mexico’s:

Coordinate early cancer care: integrate targets, budgets and accountability.
Standardise patient pathways: establish national referral standards and empower primary care.
Invest in capacity & equity: expand diagnostics beyond cities, promote telemedicine and outreach.
Strengthen data & governance: create a national coordinating body for alignment and accountability.

His presence and contribution elevated the inauguration and reaffirmed our shared commitment to advancing cancer control through global collaboration.

This event, extraordinarily organized by Fundación Mexicana para la Salud A.C., All Can México All Can México and the Faculty of Medicine of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), marks a milestone for health care in our country this year.

Congratulations to Hector Valle and Jaime Ponce for their outstanding work!”
