Katja Weisel, Deputy Hospital Director, Oncology and Hematology, UKE University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, shared on LinkedIn:
“Happy to share the latest publication of my group: Malignancy associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (M-HLH) is a life-threatening disease requiring immediate interdisciplinary diagnosis and treatment. Ricardo Kosch and Maximilian Al-Bazaz have analysed features, treatment and outcome of 49 patients in this single-center analysis.
- Malignant lymphoma was the main underlying disease
- Modified HLH 2004 criteria allowed to identify cases with high probability
- Mortality remains high, but can be lowered with immediate and effective treatment of the underlying condition.
Infections represent the most important and severe complications, early awareness and treatment is critical
Congratulations Ricardo and Max for this important publication!”
