“Three intense and inspiring days at the 29th Congress of the Polish Society of Clinical Oncology – this year made even more special by the celebration of PTOK’s 30th anniversary.
As Chair of the PTOK Breast Cancer Section, I had the privilege of co-chairing three sessions devoted to rapidly evolving areas of breast oncology: changes in tumour biology and their impact on treatment decisions, new standards in HER2-positive breast cancer, and antibody–drug conjugates. Full rooms and lively discussions showed how relevant these topics are to our daily clinical practice.
My own programme included eight lectures covering receptor evolution, SERDs, quality of life, adjuvant treatment of HER2-positive disease, ADCs, elinzanetant and the changing first-line treatment landscape in metastatic TNBC.
I was particularly proud to present two of the eight original oral communications selected for the Congress: our study on the prognostic significance of breast cancer subtype changes after neoadjuvant therapy and our real-world analysis of perioperative pembrolizumab according to the KEYNOTE-522 regimen. Our research was also represented by two posters and several further presentations involving my co-authorship.
Another very special moment was the premiere of HER2-Positive Breast Cancer, the third volume in the ‘Breast Cancer Library’ series, which I had the pleasure of co-editing with Prof. Barbara Radecka.
Beyond the lectures and presentations, this Congress was above all about people, collaboration and the shared commitment to improving cancer care. My sincere thanks to all co-chairs, speakers, co-authors, colleagues and participants – and to everyone who contributed to the remarkable energy of these three days.
