Julien Vos: The Importance of Survivorship in Disease-Based Cancer Guidelines

Julien Vos, Research Fellow in Cancer Survivorship at Harvard Medical School and Social media manager at Journal of Cancer Survivorship, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Clinicians often rely on guidelines for cancer care, but do these guidelines adequately reflect survivorship recommendations?

We examined National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) disease-based guidelines and found a considerable gap in the inclusion of survivorship content and recommendations. Tip: take a look at Fig. 2 for a quick overview of the individual guidelines.

As these guidelines evolve, there is an opportunity to tailor, expand, and standardize survivorship recommendations, making them easier to find and better supporting clinicians in delivering patient-centered care.
