Wafaa M Rashed: Joyeeta Talukdar on India-Africa Genomics Policy Advocacy
Wafaa M Rashed, Chair and Founder of PAPERI (Pan-African PGS Education and Research Initiative), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Genomics Knows No Borders: India–Africa Voices in Policy Advocacy
Meet Dr. Joyeeta Talukdar from India, an applicant for the 11th Cohort of the Policy Advocacy in Genetics and Genomics Course by PAPERI.
In her inspiring video, Dr. Talukdar shares why she believes this course matters:
- Precision medicine must not be limited by geography
- Africa’s unparalleled genetic diversity holds answers to global health challenges
- India and Africa share deep anthropological and scientific connections that can drive equitable healthcare innovation
Her vision is to contribute to policies that ensure equitable access to genetic screening, fertility preservation, and personalized therapies — while building stronger India–Africa scientific partnerships.
Her message demonstrates how this course is more than a training — it is a platform for trans-continental collaboration toward equity, inclusion, and better health.
We call on African scientists across West, East, North, and South Africa to apply, share, and motivate one another. Together with global allies, we can make genomics a true tool for justice.
Deadline Extended: 30 August 2025
One Voice. One Aim. Many Nations. A shared vision for equitable genomics.”
