Joshua Omale: The Future of Cancer Control Is Better Alignment…

Joshua Omale, Pediatric Oncology Advocate, Innovation Council Member at Coalition Against Childhood Cancer (CAC2), shared a post on LinkedIn:

Cancer control is a coordination problem. Most countries do not lack cancer knowledge. They lack coordination. Guidelines exist. Protocols exist. Training manuals exist.

But:

  • Primary care does not communicate with referral centers
  • Referral centers do not feed back to frontline providers
  • Registries collect data that financing never uses
  • Prevention strategies expand without matching treatment capacity.

So the system is fragmented. And fragmentation is expensive. Not only financially, but in time, survival, and public trust. Cancer control doesn’t just fail because of ignorance. It fails because its parts do not move together.

When systems align:

  • suspicion moves quickly
  • referrals close the loop
  • data shapes investment
  • prevention and treatment reinforce each other

Cancer outcomes improve not through isolated brilliance, but through functional coordination. The future of cancer control is not only better medicine. It is better alignment!”
