Joanna Metzner-Sadurski, Community Oncologist at Self Regional Healthcare, posted on LinkedIn:
“It was such a privilege to celebrate 134 years of Beulah Baptist Church with my colleague Ruiling Yuan. What an extraordinary event, filled with incredible people, strong families, deep faith, and a powerful spirit of community.
One story especially touched me. A member shared how, when their mother became ill in late 1980ies , the Beulah Baptist Church missionary ministry came to visit sick , washed their clothes, and made sure they always had clean, fresh clothing. It was a beautiful reminder of what true Christian service looks like-people caring for one another, supporting families, and showing love through meaningful acts of kindness.
Reverend Tillman is doing an incredible job keeping this historic church strong, united, and moving forward. I also love Reverend Tillman’s vision of starting a community garden and growing fresh vegetables to encourage a healthier lifestyle, a healthier body, and a healthier mind.
We are especially to the community for support they offered to help with Beulah’s fundraising effort!
Congratulations to Beulah Baptist Church on 134 years of faith, fellowship, service, love, and community impact.”
To which, Ruiling Yuan, Hematologist/Oncologist at Self Regional Healthcare, Adjunct Assistant Professor at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and Medical University of South Carolina, added:
“Community matters. It was a privilege to be invited to celebrate 134 years of Beulah Baptist Church alongside Joanna Metzner-Sadurski. So inspiring to see the faith, service, generosity, and deep sense of community that have carried through generations.
Grateful to be part of such a meaningful celebration, and reminded again that caring for our community goes far beyond the clinic. ”
