“Wow – what an incredible day yesterday.
First, the NCORP meeting at MUSC, then receiving the Gold Certificate of Excellence from NIH for our site with my colleague Ruiling Yuan, MD, and later the CoP meeting. I also had the chance to share Oncology101.org with short, plain-language clinical-trial videos designed to help patients truly understand the process.
Dr. Ed Balaban, as always, reminded us why advocacy matters – why it’s essential that oncologists and researchers stay at the table when decisions affecting cancer care are made.
And one comment really stayed with me:
- We raise a lot… but compared with others, it’s still not enough.
- Not enough to influence drug shortages.
- Not enough to fix prior authorization.
- Not enough to strengthen research funding or Medicare payment reform.
If we want a stronger voice for our patients – especially in rural communities – we need to keep building, keep engaging, and keep supporting the ASCO Association PAC.
