JJ Singleton: It’s Been a Rough Week, but it’s Important to Remember the Good and See the Light if Possible

JJ Singleton, Research Advocate at Fight Colorectal Cancer, adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivor, shared on LinkedIn:

“This week has had procedures and spirals for me personally:

  • It’s had tough news for many friends in the cancer world
  • It’s had us as a society losing absolute icons and people that brought us so much joy and made the world at large better
  • It’s had unimaginable natural disasters, and the forming of potential others
  • It’s seen politicians continue to do dumb things and divide society in so many ways

The news and social media constantly are showing click bait and rage bait news, the worse something is the more it seems to get views and cause more division. But in the midst of all this there are positives, there is good news, there are incredible people doing amazing things.

I see family and friends and so many working hard on raising incredible kids that will make this world better and wanting to help others. I see some special friends bringing light into this world in the darkest and hardest places for so many and in the face of unimaginable obstacles. I see medical professionals working to make our lives better for better research and to continue helping society.

It’s ok to see the good, it’s ok to see happiness, it’s ok to enjoy the day and the world.

It’s been a rough week in the world and society but yet more than ever it’s important to get out to remember the good, see and feel the positives and the light when possible.

Be the good you want to see in the world.”
