Our team has been awarded 1.4 million in funding from the Florida Department of Health’s Bankhead-Coley Cancer Research Program to carry out our project
‘BRIDGE: Building Routes to Increased Detection with Guidance and Education in cervical cancer screening.’
Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers we have, yet screening rates at Florida’s community health centers remain well below where they should be, even while our state carries a higher cervical cancer burden than the national average.
BRIDGE will test a multilevel approach to change that:
Making high-quality cervical cancer screening, including the newly FDA-approved option of HPV self-collection, easier to access for patients across 13 FQHC’s namely, Tampa Family Health Centers sites, in partnership with Health Choice Network.
I’m proud to co-lead this work as MPI alongside Shannon M. C. and grateful to our multidisciplinary team of clinicians, scientists, and community partners who made it possible. Including but not limited to these trailblazers in the field: Susan Vadaparampil, Anna Giuliano, Katherine Chung-Bridges.
