Jennifer Young: A privilege of Participating in the UICC Cancer Planners Forum in Geneva

Jennifer Young, Vice President and Head, International Commercial Policy and Communications at Pfizer, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“This week, I had the privilege of participating in the 2nd Cancer Planners Forum convened by Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in Geneva, Switzerland.

It was an energizing few days bringing together 120 participants from 54 countries to advance the development, financing, implementation, and evaluation of National Cancer Control Plans (NCCPs).

NCCPs are essential for setting national cancer priorities, but their impact depends on whether they can be implemented, measured, and sustainably financed. Today, financing remains a major barrier—only 27% of NCCPs are fully costed, limiting countries’ ability to translate plans into action.

Across the discussions, several opportunities emerged to strengthen NCCPs: expanding early screening and diagnosis, embedding private‑sector and patient engagement, and integrating clinical trials and AI into both plan design and execution.

I’m leaving the forum inspired by the momentum and the collective commitment to improving cancer outcomes globally.

There is real energy to build on.”
