Ishtar Espejo, Director at the Aladina Foundation, Member of Top 100 Influential Women in Oncology, The Winner of 2024 Yvonne Award – Humanitarian Impact, and a former member of the UICC Young Leaders Programme, shared a post on Instagram:
“Today is a special day. 18/10/25.
The Aladina Foundation, my first son, he’s 20 years old.
I am so lucky to have this job, to be surrounded by the most amazing people, to be able to grow, learn and help. We were 3 starting out and we knew nothing.
Now we are over 50 and dreaming big. We have to celebrate all the good so today we toast to Aladdin.
But then another exciting thing happened today. I have received the Medal of the Order of St. Pantaleon, the highest distinction granted by the Government and the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in the health and humanitarian field. This recognition celebrates my work and all that we’ve done since the Aladdin Foundation to support Ukrainian children with cancer and their families. Thank you very much for thinking of me.
I’m already a little Ukrainian. In the greatest darkness there is love. Even in the midst of war, hope and solidarity have immense power.”
