Scientific breakthroughs are changing what is possible in cancer care. But innovation alone is not enough. The real challenge is ensuring that every patient, regardless of where they live, can benefit from earlier diagnosis, precision medicine, and access to the right treatment at the right time.
At our Oncology Pillar launch, held in Chicago alongside ASCO 2026, we were honoured to welcome two outstanding leaders whose work continues to shape the future of precision oncology:
- Vivek Subbiah, MD (Stanford University), a global pioneer in biomarker-driven clinical trials and precision cancer medicine, whose work has helped accelerate the development of innovative therapies for patients around the world.
- Manmeet Ahluwalia, MD, MBA, FASCO (Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute), an internationally recognised neuro-oncologist and clinical trial leader committed to advancing equitable access to innovation and improving outcomes for patients with brain tumours and beyond.
Throughout the discussion, one message stood out clearly: the science already exists. The challenge now is implementation.
From addressing disparities in screening and diagnosis to expanding access to precision oncology, molecular testing and clinical trials, both speakers highlighted that progress will only come through stronger collaboration between clinicians, researchers, policymakers, industry and patient organisations.
This is exactly why the International Alliance for Personalised Medicine launched its Oncology Pillar: to help turn evidence into action and ensure that innovation reaches patients, not just publications.
