European Cancer Organisation shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Most sexually active adults will be infected with the human papillomavirus (HPV) at some point in their lives, but the vast majority of those infections don’t have any lingering effects.
Some infections, however, can lead to different types of cancer: cervical, anal, penile, vaginal, vulvar, and head and neck cancers.
Vaccination can prevent all HPV-related cancers, while HPV testing detects early changes long before a cancer ever develops.
Together, these tools can help Europe move closer to eliminating cervical cancer.”
