Hesham ElGhazaly, Candidate for the UICC Board of Directors, shared on LinkedIn:
“Within the framework of the activities of the Pink Month, Assiut Governorate witnessed the holding of awareness events about the Pink October for the first time in cooperation between the Egyptian Cancer Society, the Presidential Initiative for Women’s Health and Assiut University, in a step aimed at enhancing health awareness in the governorates of Upper Egypt, and expanding the reach of women through awareness and activities throughout the Republic.
The activities of Assiut witnessed the presence of a group of professors and specialists, including: Prof. Dr. Hatem Amin, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Selim, Prof. Dr. Samir Shehata, Prof. Dr. Gamal Amira, Prof. Dr. Adel Gabr, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Gamal, and Prof. Dr. Reem Emad.

During October, the activities of the initiative extended to other Egyptian universities, including where awareness activities were organized in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa El-Din, President of Ain Shams University, and with the participation of faculty members, specialists, and students.
These events come as part of the initiative’s ongoing efforts to organize awareness campaigns in a number of Egyptian governorates and universities, with the aim of spreading awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer, introducing risk factors, the importance of periodic examination, and correcting concepts related to the disease.
These activities are also integrated with the role of mobile early detection units, which contribute to facilitating access to screening and awareness services, and reaching as many women as possible across the Republic, in order to support early detection efforts and improve treatment opportunities.
These events reflect the importance of integration between scientific and medical institutions and national health initiatives in supporting cancer control efforts, promoting community awareness, and expanding the use of early detection services, with attention to the delivery of health messages and services to various governorates, including the governorates of Upper Egypt.”
