Hesham ElGhazaly: Meeting Global Oncology Leaders at ASCO 2026

Hesham ElGhazaly, Elected President of the Executive Board at Egyptian Cancer Society, Professor of Clinical Oncology at Ain Shams University, and the Founder and CEO of Alfa Cure Oncology Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“It was a pleasure to attend this year’s ASCO to witness on site the huge breakthroughs and all the scientifically intense activities that will reshape cancer care in the future. I also had the honor to be invited to and attend the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Presidents’ Dinner and Reception, meeting Dr. Eric Small, ASCO President Dr. Elizabeth Mittendorf, Dr. Lynn Schuchter, ASCO Past President, Dr. Julie Gralow, ASCO CMO, ASCO CEO Dr. Clifford Hudis, and UICC CEO Dr. Cary Adams.

It was a pleasure to meet and engage with you all, and I am always eager to discuss what we can work on together for the future.

I was also thrilled to be part of the Yvonne Award Committee, celebrating exceptional leadership and advocacy in oncology. My warm congratulations to all the inspiring leaders and award winners, with a special note of pride for my dear friend Charles Balch on his truly well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award.

One of the highlight activities was attending the AORTIC-ASCO Leaders Meeting with President Dr. Cesaltina Lorenzoni. The meeting showcased impressive efforts to advance Africa’s research and the AORTIC vision of a unified continent’s voice, bringing together all African regions to grow collectively in the global oncology research field.

Busy, fulfilling days filled with breaking research results, multiple activities, and meetings rich in discussion and opportunities for collaboration. It is always inspiring to witness such genuine passion for advancing cancer research. And of course, it is always a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with dear friends from around the world.”
