Hesham ElGhazaly, Professor of Clinical Oncology at Ain Shams University and the Founder and CEO of Alfa Cure Oncology Cente, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This past week in New York was both intense and deeply meaningful. I had the privilege of joining the official Egyptian delegation at the United Nations General Assembly UNGA (22–25 September 2025), where the global community came together to confront today’s cancer challenges and shape tomorrow’s solutions.
The week opened with a high-level global meeting on breast cancer, where I stood alongside inspiring leaders from around the world to stress the urgency of bridging gaps and ensuring equitable access to care.
At the International Cancer Control Meetings at UN Headquarters organized by International Cancer Patient Coalition in collaboration with the UN I was proud to share Egypt’s National Cancer Control Strategy—an effort that has delivered measurable impact and improved patient outcomes. The discussions underscored innovation, AI-driven research, equity, and sustainable financing as critical to advancing care, particularly for countries working against resource constraints.
The week concluded with the ICC x American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) side event on closing the cancer care access gap, where ministers, global health leaders, and oncologists reinforced a united call: no patient should be left behind.
It was also a true pleasure to meet and reconnect with global leaders and friends who share the same passion and commitment to advancing cancer care.
It was a demanding week, but an honor to carry Egypt’s voice and commitment to global collaboration, determined to accelerate progress and ensure that equity in cancer care becomes a reality.”
