Han Chong Toh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at National Cancer Centre Singapore, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Very special to return to houston to give a seminar on T cell therapy and on our national cell therapy development grant – at the center for cell and gene therapy hosted by director Helen Heslop and to meet my fellowship bosses/mentors again Malcolm Brenner and Cliona Rooney giants in cell gene and immunotherapy, true pioneers in human gene therapy, first to test CD19 as target for CAR-T, inventing the caspase – 9 safety switch and so many other firsts.
When i asked Malcolm to reflect on such deep legacy, he replied, ‘seeing the children cured of their cancers living full lives into adulthood cancer-free is the greatest joy.’ and just the biggest nostalgic treat seeing my medical school classmate Jenny C. Chang, MB.ChirB., MD, MHCM now big boss president of Houston Methodist Academic Institute.”
