START Provides Hope Through Access for Cancer Patients in New York-Long Island
START New York-Long Island is celebrating its Grand Opening as the newest early-phase clinical trial unit in The START Center for Cancer Research’s global network.
Located at the R.J. Zuckerberg Cancer Center in New Hyde Park, this new clinical trial site will help to ensure that New Yorkers facing complex and rare cancer diagnoses will have access to the most advanced treatments, including cell and gene therapy and radioligand therapy, in the community where they live.
START’s 14 clinical trial sites in the United States, Europe, and Ireland have already conducted more than 1,000 early-phase clinical trials. That includes trials for 45 therapies that were approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration or the European Medicines Agency.
This Grand Opening will afford you the opportunity to meet the five leaders responsible for creating this cutting-edge, community-based clinical trial unit – Nick Slack and Dr. O’Sullivan Coyne from START, and Dr. Barakat, Dr. Carvajal, and Jon Sendach from the Northwell Cancer Institute. You will also be able to view firsthand START New York-Long Island’s exam rooms, infusion area, imaging and lab facilities, and pharmacy.
