Filipe Coutinho, Medical Oncologist at Unidade Local de Saúde Médio Ave, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I recently received the ORDEM DOS MÉDICOS – NORTE certification in the competence of Geriatrics.
I share this moment with pride and a sense of responsibility, aware that any professional path always results from many learnings, opportunities and contributions from other people.
My clinical activity in Unidade Local de Saúde Médio Ave, as an oncologist and palliative care specialist, has shown me daily the importance of caring for the elderly in an attentive, thoughtful and individualized way.
This path has also been enriched by the teaching activity at the Faculty of Health Sciences of Universidade da Beira Interior, where I am a guest lecturer and responsible for the Geriatric Oncology class, as well as by the work developed at Sociedade Portuguesa de Oncologia SPO, through the Geriatric Oncology Working Group.
Participation in SIOG – International Society of Geriatric Oncology, as national representative and member of the board of Young SIOG in the 2024–2026 term, and editorial and scientific review collaboration in the Journal of Geriatric Oncology, have also been important spaces for learning, sharing and contact with colleagues of great human and scientific quality.
To all colleagues, teams, students and institutions with whom I have had the privilege of learning and working, I leave my sincere thanks.
I see this certification not as a point of arrival, but as another incentive to continue learning and contribute, with discretion, rigor and respect, to an increasingly person-centered Geriatric Oncology.”
