Felipe Couñago, Medical Director at GenesisCare Spain, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“New real-world evidence from Spain on stage III NSCLC!
A national GOECP-SEOR study has analyzed 1,505 patients from 35 radiation oncology departments, confirming the strong impact of concurrent chemoradiotherapy (cCRT) followed by durvalumab in routine clinical practice.
Key highlights:
- Durvalumab more than doubled OS after cCRT (44 vs 19 months).
- Significant improvements in PFS, even after multivariate adjustment.
- Extensive use of IMRT/VMAT and IGRT, reflecting high-quality radiotherapy nationwide.
- Toxicity remained manageable, with low rates of ≥G3 pneumonitis.
These data reinforce how real-world practice in Spain aligns with international standards and the PACIFIC paradigm, while also highlighting remaining challenges in accessibility and treatment optimization.
Huge congratulations to GOECP-SEOR and all authors for delivering such a valuable and impactful contribution to our field.
An excellent step forward for patients and for the thoracic oncology community!”
