Eugene A. Woods, Chief Executive Officer at Advocate Health and President and CEO at Atrium Health, shared on LinkedIn:
“Three – year – old Pete is a patient who loves PAW Patrol and visits from our facility dog Sprout, and even had the chance to talk with astronauts aboard the International Space Station!
You won’t find those details in his medical record. But they matter.
Recently, I spent time rounding at our Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital. What stayed with me wasn’t just the incredible medicine being practiced. It was how our caregivers take the time to know each child as a child, not just a patient.
Families come to Levine Children’s Hospital from across North Carolina and beyond for some of the most advanced pediatric care in the country, whether it is in our newly renovated, state of the art Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (the largest in North Carolina), or in Hematology and Oncology, where teams are advancing treatments that are changing lives. In fact, today, Levine Children’s Hospital is nationally ranked in seven pediatric specialties by U.S. News and World Report.
But as impressive as those recognitions are, what stood out were our incredible caregivers.
They help children heal. They celebrate milestones. They create moments of joy. And they help kids keep being kids, even during some of life’s hardest moments.
Most of all, it is a reminder that some of the most important things we do in healthcare will never show up in a ranking, a report or a medical record.”
