On 29 September, at ASTRO’s 68th Annual Meeting in Boston, I will present in the session ‘Challenges of Developing a Radiation Oncology Program in a LMIC Country: The Tale of Four Centers’ – four centers, four different countries, with Georgia among them as a country with a genuinely unique experience.

When radiation oncology began to develop in Georgia, the modern accelerators were installed where such investment is almost always justified – in the capital.

It was precisely then that my company made a historic decision and chose the harder path: to build an oncology center in western Georgia, in Kutaisi.

My talk is about Kutaisi, and above all, I am glad that this is my story to tell…
