“Today during 12th RSOG scientific conference, we celebrate an important milestone in Rwanda’s journey toward cervical cancer elimination through the strong collaboration of Elekta Foundation, Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC), and the Rwanda Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RSOG).
Through this partnership, more than 6,000 Community Health Workers and over 1,000 healthcare providers, including nurses, midwives and general practitioners, have been trained to strengthen cervical cancer prevention and care. This initiative promotes task sharing and task shifting, expanding advanced care such as LEEP and colposcopy beyond specialists while maintaining quality, supervision and standards of care.
Sixty trainees underwent comprehensive theoretical, practical, hands-on and mentorship training, and today we are proud to recognize 16 providers who have demonstrated competency and are now able to perform these procedures effectively.
This is not only a certificate of training, but a recognition of competence, commitment and responsibility toward bringing safe, standardized and sustainable cervical cancer care closer to every woman in Rwanda.”
