Emily Drake, Assistant Professor at Mount Allison University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Thank you Canada.
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to present cancer research in seven countries (not mentioning those where my colleagues have taken our work) on three continents throughout my career, but this does not just happen by chance or through luck. It is an enormous effort by those on our teams, those who take the time to participate in cancer research, and our funding bodies.
My work has historically been supported by the Canadian government, NovaScotia government, trusts, universities, Canadian Cancer Society, ACCESS-ACCES, Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute (+others), and Canadians who go out and raise money for cancer research in honour of their loved ones who, like my own, have been diagnosed with cancer. So, this isn’t just me. It’s Canadians and our global partners. We do this. We all keep cancer research going for children and young people in Canada and around the world!”
