A Particularly Meaningful Moment

Beyond the scientific exchanges, I had the profound honor and privilege of delivering a tribute to the late Prof. Yasser Abdelkader, Professor of Clinical Oncology at Cairo University and a pioneer of oncology in Egypt and our region.

Having known him personally and professionally, being entrusted to speak about his extraordinary legacy was deeply emotional and meaningful.

His scientific contributions, dedication to education, and the generations he inspired will remain an enduring legacy.

My heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Humaid Al – Shamsi MB(IRL),FRCP(Lon),FRCP(Ca),FRCP(Glasgow),FACP(US), EOS, and our UAE colleagues for this touching gesture of remembrance.

My reflection:

Advancing oncology is not only about developing better treatments. It is about selecting the right treatment for the right patient, avoiding unnecessary interventions, and ensuring equitable access to scientific progress.

Sincere thanks to Prof. Hiba Gamal (Best of St. Gallen Africa), Prof. Amany Helal (Baheya), Prof. Humaid AlShamsi, and all distinguished colleagues and friends.

Special appreciation to Roche, Hikma Pharmaceuticals, MSD Gulf, and Conveners for supporting scientific education and regional collaboration.

From scientific evidence to clinical practice, from healthcare policy to patient – centered care, and from honoring our pioneers to inspiring future generations, our mission remains: Better cancer care for every patient.”
