“‘I’ll be away for a year and then I’ll come back’, quoting myself
In 2011, driven by my commitment to advancing cancer research, I moved to Houston to pursue my postdoctoral training at UT MD Anderson.
My original plan was to spend a single year in the United States; at the time, I viewed this as a temporary opportunity to broaden my scientific expertise, learn new technologies, and experience a different culture before returning to Italy. I had no way of knowing that this decision would ultimately shape the course of both my professional and personal life, evolving into a long-term journey.
15 years later, I remain deeply grateful for my decision.
The experiences, challenges, collaborations, drawbacks, possibilities, relationships and people I have encountered along the way have profoundly shaped me as both a scientist and a person, reinforcing my passion for discovery and that original commitment to cancer research.”
