“The authors define ‘timely palliative care’ as a systematic approach using routine screening, agreed referral criteria, automated triggers and outpatient specialist resources to refer oncology patients earlier to palliative care. They argue this model enhances access, allocates resources efficiently and improves patient and caregiver outcomes by enabling earlier specialist involvement.”
