Donjeta Bali: Eight Months of Learning, Collaboration, and Shared Purpose Through the NCCP iCAYA Program

Donjeta Bali, Professor of Pediatrics in the Faculty of Medicine at University of Medicine of Tirana, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Eight months of learning, collaboration, and shared purpose—proud to have completed the NCCP iCAYA (National Cancer Control Planning integrating Children, Adolescents and Young Adults) program.

Through the CureAll framework, which underpins the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer, we explored real-world challenges in national programs, policy, and legislation, drawing on pediatric oncology, global public health, and policy and systems science. The experience highlighted the value of collaboration beyond childhood cancer, bringing diverse perspectives together to strengthen health systems and explore new opportunities for collective action.

It has been a privilege to share this experience with our Albanian team, whose dedication and support made these eight months especially meaningful.

With gratitude to Albania’s Ministry of Health, WHO Albania, Mother Teresa University Hospital Center, University Hospital Centre (QSUT), and all the mentors, organizers, and colleagues Rovena Aliaj, Enkeleda Duka, Mirela Xhafa, Mirzana Kapllanaj, Besjana Dibra, Eugena Tomini and Gazmend Bejtja, who made this experience so valuable.

Keep going Albanian team.

The program may be complete, but our work to turn learning into meaningful change continues.”
