Don S. Dizon, Jane F. Desforges Chair in Hematology and Oncology at Tufts University and Editor in Chief at CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians at American Cancer Society, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Invited to address a multi-stakeholder meeting UN to bring equity in the global access to cancer diagnostics and therapeutics. I was able to make a few points:
- Access to treatments is paramount. Innovative diagnostics that can help patients get the right treatment requires it.
- AI is only as good as the data we feed it. Expanded collaboration in the development of biomarkers is essential to ensure we can better take in to account biology at a global scale.
- We must communicate about cancer in a culturally informed way and in language everyone understands.
- Patient care must be centered on the person.”
