Dégi László Csaba: Key Global Priorities Shaped at the International Committee Meeting

Dégi László Csaba, Full Professor at UBB, ECO President, IPOS Secretary, Ombudsman, APSCO President, and FSAS Ph.D. Director, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Over the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of chairing the International Committee Meeting, an advisory body to the Board of the European Cancer Organisation. Yesterday’s meeting was a particularly meaningful one, held during our annual summit in Brussels, where we addressed major global challenges and emerging policy priorities in cancer care.

Our discussions focused on:

  • The Global Cancer Fund – exploring how Europe can mobilise stronger support
  • The EU multi-annual budget 2028–2034 and its implications for global cancer policy
  • Emergencies and crises in cancer care beyond European borders
  • Follow-up actions for the 2025 UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs

A special highlight was the participation of Catharine Young, Global Cancer Fund lead, who previously served as Assistant Director for Policy and International Engagement for the Biden Cancer Moonshot at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Grateful to all members and guests for their dedication as we continue working to strengthen Europe’s role in advancing global cancer control.”
