Earlier this week at the Georgia State Capitol, Governor Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp proclaimed September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Governor Kemp and Marty, thank you for doing this for the 8th and final time as Georgia’s Governor and First Lady. You have both been true friends, advocates and champions for children with cancer and their families. We’ll miss your leadership.
Thank you to every childhood cancer family, advocate, organization, researcher, survivor and supporter who showed up.
Thank you to my team at Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research for being such great hosts. It truly was a beautiful day and a great way to kick off September.
For everyone reading this, I have a few questions: Did you know
- 47 children are diagnosed with cancer every single day in the U.S.?
- That childhood cancer is the leading disease-related cause of death for children?
- That childhood cancer research funding has increased but is still dramatically underfunded?
But here’s what gives me hope: Your voice.
This September, please help raise awareness. It’s easy. You can tell a friend, make a post or write your elected officials.
Every voice matters. Every child matters. We need you. Kids fighting cancer need you.”
