Dean Crowe: One Conversation, One Resource and One Step Closer to Saving a Child’s Life
Dean Crowe, Founder and CEO of Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research, shared a post on LinkedIn:
” ‘It took so long to get a diagnosis.’ I hear this all the time from parents.
Early detection isn’t luck. It’s awareness.
Childhood cancer can be difficult to diagnose because its symptoms often mimic common illnesses.
The Georgia Pediatric Cancer Plan Task Force, which I had the honor of co-chairing, was talking about this, and we created a Childhood Cancer Symptoms Sheet for pediatricians and other medical professionals. Thank you, Dr. Sharon M Castellino, for her insights.
The goal: promote earlier detection by simply putting the possibility of cancer on their radar.
We don’t want panic.
We do want awareness. It is the first goal in Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research’s mission.
When it comes to pediatric cancer, seconds count. Please help spread the word:
- Share this with your network.
- Bring a copy to your child’s medical provider.
This is how change starts. One conversation. One resource. One step closer to saving a child’s life.
We know not all childhood cancers are on this sheet, and the overview is very broad. We know that every single childhood cancer is important, and hopefully this sheet will help medical professionals consider pediatric and adolescent cancers when making a diagnosis.”
