Dean Crowe: Turning Awareness into Action for Childhood Cancer in Georgia
Dean Crowe, Founder and CEO of Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Yesterday, at the Georgia State Capitol, we took a historic step forward for kids fighting cancer. As co-chair of the Georgia Pediatric Cancer Task Force, I introduced the first ever Georgia Pediatric Cancer Action Plan to the childhood cancer community. This plan is now part of Georgia’s broader State Cancer Plan.
Our goals are to address awareness, early detection, quality of care and survivorship needs associated with childhood cancer.
It was an honor to work alongside Co-Chair Michael Henry and Task Force members Dr. Sharon M Castellino, David Fige, Ceci Griffin, Stefanie McKinney, Clark Shelton, and Christine Atherstone. Thank you, Lynn Durham and Chris Parker, of GC3 for your leadership and guidance.
My heartfelt thanks also go to the many nonprofit partners, survivors, families, advocates, pediatric oncologists and researchers who joined us at the Capitol. Your voices and dedication give this plan the strength and momentum it needs to make a lasting impact.
We will continue working together to ensure this plan leads to meaningful action and hope for families across all of Georgia fighting the childhood cancer beast.
Also, as part of the day’s events, Governor Brian Kemp signed a proclamation declaring September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Georgia. We are deeply grateful to Governor Kemp, First Lady Marty Kemp, and their incredible staff for their support.
Together, we are turning awareness into action—and action into hope.”
