Darius Benimana: How Can Young People Help Shape the Future of Breast Cancer Awareness in Rwanda?

Darius Benimana, SCORE Regional Assistant for Africa at IFMSA, Director at Medcancer Initiative Rwanda, and Global Health University (GHU) coordinator at GlobeMed, shared on LinkedIn:

“Representing Medcancer Initiative Rwanda at the Rwanda National Breast Cancer Symposium 2026.

On 30 October 2026, I had the opportunity to attend the Rwanda National Breast Cancer Symposium 2026, organized by the Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) in collaboration with its partners.

I was honored to represent Medcancer Initiative Rwanda, a youth-led organization dedicated to raising cancer awareness, promoting early detection, and mobilizing young people and communities to take an active role in cancer prevention and control.
Participating in this symposium was an important opportunity to engage with stakeholders, healthcare professionals, cancer advocates, and partners working to strengthen breast cancer care in Rwanda.

I strongly believe that young people and youth-led organizations have an important role to play in advancing cancer awareness, supporting early detection, and building stronger community engagement.

Grateful to RBC and its partners for creating this platform and for the opportunity to represent our organization.

Together, we can make early detection a priority and improve cancer outcomes in Rwanda.”
