Cristian Massacesi: Bristol Myers Squibb’s Vision for the Next Generation of Medicines

Cristian Massacesi, Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Development at Bristol Myers Squibb, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Recently, I joined Sam Fazeli on Bloomberg Intelligence’s Vanguards of Healthcare podcast to talk about what it will take to deliver the next generation of medicines for patients.

We discussed how Bristol Myers Squibb’s pipeline is evolving across therapeutic areas, with an ambition to deliver 10 new medicines by 2030, as well as how we’re working to develop treatments faster, with higher success rates, by leveraging AI to improve decisions along the way.

A key part of the conversation focused on oncology and the news coming out of #ASCO26, including how delivering two validated mechanisms-PD-L1 and VEGF inhibition-through a single bispecific may be more targeted than combining separate drugs, with the potential to enhance activity even in tumors less responsive to current immunotherapy approaches.

We also touched on the momentum in neuroscience, where advances in biology and biomarkers are beginning to open new possibilities for diseases with significant unmet need.

What continues to drive me is what I saw early in my career-patients, often young, with few options. Every new medicine that reaches patients is a step toward changing that reality.

Listen to the full conversation here.”
