Coalition for Access to NCD Medicines and Products shared on LinkedIn:
“London Global Cancer Week begins tomorrow, bringing together the global cancer community from November 2-6 to address one of the most persistent challenges in health: inequitable access to cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care.
This year’s theme, Global Partnerships for Equitable Cancer Care, reflects what the Coalition knows well – that tackling cancer inequities requires collaboration across sectors, disciplines, and borders.
Why this matters for access to NCD services: Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, yet survival rates, access to medicines, and screening uptake remain deeply unequal.
These gaps are not inevitable.
They are shaped by policy, investment, and whether quality-assured medicines and diagnostics actually reach the people who need them.
Sessions particularly relevant to our work:
- Democratizing Oncology: Who Gets the Trial, the Drug, the Chance? (Nov 2, 3-4:30PM GMT, online, hosted by OncoDaily) – explores barriers to timely access to cancer medicines and scalable solutions.
- Equity in Financing Global Cancer Care? (Nov 3, 6:00–8:00 PM GMT, in-person and online, hosted by The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and The Royal College of Surgeons of England) – examines how financing decisions shape who can access care.
- Building the Political Case for Health Tax Reform in Africa (Nov 5, 12:30–2:00 PM GMT, online, hosted by Cancer Research UK (CRUK) – highlights health taxes as a tool for cancer prevention and sustainable financing.
- Global Partnerships for Equitable Cancer Care: Moving From Local Insight to Worldwide Impact (Nov 6, 8:30 AM–6:00 PM GMT, King’s College London, in person) – brings together diverse partners to translate local evidence into global action.
