Kochi Joins the C/Can Network as 19th City Globally – City Cancer Challenge (C/Can)

City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) shared a post on LinkedIn:

“On the sidelines of the World Health Assembly, today Kochi, India, officially joins the C/Can network, becoming the 19th city globally and the 5th in Asia to take on cancer care transformation.

India recorded over 1.4 million new cancer cases in 2022. They are all people who deserve better access, faster diagnosis, and care that doesn’t depend on where they live or who they are.

Our work in the city will be led by C/Can Kochi, a consortium led by the Butterfly Cancer Care Foundation, bringing together cancer-focused civil society organisations with a shared mandate to drive and implement this initiative at the city level.

Two formal agreements anchor that commitment: a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Butterfly Cancer Care Foundation and the City Cancer Challenge Foundation to advance stronger, more equitable cancer care; and a second MoU with the Kochi Municipal Corporation, establishing a formal commitment to implement cancer care activities across the city.

Together, we’ll work to close the gaps that cost lives: access to essential medicines, training for health workers, and earlier diagnosis. C/Can works From The Groud Up, and the solutions built will be community-driven, evidence-based, and designed to inspire similar action across India and Asia.

Welcome to the network, Kochi. The work starts now. ”
