“From groundbreaking discussions to inspiring interdisciplinary collaboration, the MEDICON2026 conference in Siena was a fantastic opportunity to explore how AI is shaping the future of patient-centred cancer care.
Our special session about ‘Artificial Intelligence and Shared Decision-Making in Breast Cancer’ led by Maria João Cardoso, Marilia Antunes, Oriana Ciani and Ludovica Borsoi focused on AI in supporting shared decision-making and the regulatory, ethical and organizational challenges that must be addressed to ensure these technologies truly benefit patients.
Together, they explored the clinical validation of AI tools, patient-reported outcomes, digital health platforms, explainable AI and value-based implementation strategies that can help bring responsible innovation into everyday clinical practice.
The conversations sparked during this session will continue to drive collaboration toward more personalized, transparent and patient-empowering breast cancer care.”
