“This Sunday is a big day for me, and the continuation of a journey that began nearly a decade ago.
I am stepping up to the starting line of the Berlin Marathon to raise critical funds for cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
My commitment began in 2017, when I ran my first marathon in Boston. Since then, it has become a defining pursuit – riding the Pan-Mass Challenge and running the New York City Marathon last fall.
Berlin is the next major step in a promise to never stop moving forward until we find a cure.
Right before leaving Boston, a colleague jokingly asked why I was spending my vacation running another 26.2 miles. I couldn’t think of a better getaway. Immersing myself in Berlin’s history and culture with my family – while pouring my heart into a mission I live and breathe at work – is incredibly rewarding.
Since that first marathon in 2017, running has truly become my sanctuary, and taking this mission overseas gives it new meaning.
Working at Dana-Farber, I witness the quiet heroism of our medical and research teams every day.
This Sunday, as I pace through a new city, every stride will be an intentional tribute – honoring patients, families, and the brilliant minds pushing boundaries in our labs.

This Sunday, every mile will symbolize hope, resilience, and the pursuit of a cure.
As I have since 2017, I will carry the names of loved ones, friends, and colleagues affected by this disease on my race singlet. I’m humbled to be part of this journey and to contribute to a cause that means so much.

The excitement of this city and the camaraderie of the international running community remind me of the incredible power of a shared global purpose, as thousands of strangers gather across borders to lift each other up.
The training is complete, and I am ready for Sunday.
